Family Support Worker

At St. Aidan's, our main goal is to provide support to our families in order to help children thrive and reach their full potential. We believe in fostering independence and working closely with families to ensure that everyone feels confident and secure.

Our dedicated Family Support Worker, Mrs. Jan Trencher, plays a crucial role in achieving these goals. Alongside our staff members who interact with your child, Mrs. Trencher strives to collaborate with parents and caregivers to make a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and our families as a whole. She offers personalised appointments, telephone advice, home visits, assistance with community appointments, meetings with professionals, and attends multi-agency meetings at the school. Additionally, she is available to provide direct support with referrals to various agencies, including assistance with grant and allowance applications, as well as help with form filling.

As the family support worker, Mrs. Trencher will offer practical assistance and emotional support to families facing short or long-term difficulties. Her aim is to empower parents to address challenging situations and a wide range of social and personal issues, ultimately reducing problems and risks. If direct support is not sufficient, she will guide parents and caregivers to the appropriate agency or professional for further advice and action. Family support is also available for EWO (Education Welfare Officer) home visits, medical appointments, new pupil transitions, and bridging the gap during relationship breakdowns.

Typically, families are referred to Mrs. Trencher by a staff member who has direct contact with the individual parent. However, you are also welcome to contact her to arrange a meeting. Contact details are below.

Throughout the year, we actively engage in discussions with parents and caregivers to identify training opportunities and workshops that may be beneficial, interesting, and enjoyable. Mrs. Trencher will collaborate with relevant professionals to organise these sessions and ensure they meet the needs of our parents.
