Blackburn with Darwen Adult Learning are hosting a Jobs and Skills Fair that offers an outstanding opportunity for anyone looking to find a career, get into volunteering or further their learning.

The fair will take place between 10am and 3pm on Tuesday 28 February at King George’s Hall in Blackburn. Approximately 500 attendees are expected at the event, which is open to members of the public and Job Centre customers.

There will be 60 stalls from businesses ranging across the public, private and voluntary sectors – with local employers being at the forefront. These organisations will all have the opportunity to promote their opportunities and potentially recruit people at the event.

Some of the organisations attending the Jobs & Skills Fair include:

• East Lancashire Health Trust

• Blackburn with Darwen Council

• Euro Garages

• EE.

Coun Quesir Mahmood, Executive Member for Growth & Development, said:

"This Jobs and Skills Fair will give residents an incredible chance to come face-to-face with a number of our borough’s biggest employers."

There will be a variety of support and tools provided for job seekers at the event, including employability workshops and an application station, with the latter involving a dedicated area where people can fill out job applications on the day. The Council’s Adult Learning Team and the National Careers Service will be on hand to offer advice.

Upskilling and further learning are also a big theme of the event, with advice and support for anyone who may want a career change and would like to find training, volunteering opportunities or education on their new career paths.
